a part of the 'Little Riding Hood' series
Bruno Munari has played with traditional fairy tales and widened their horizons, creating new characters and a new history. Munari's 'Little Riding Hoods' come back now as singular books, according to the original project.
Children all over the world know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Completely unknown until the day this book was published was the story of Little White Riding Hood. Now, she is here in these pages but you cannot see her. You know there is this little girl all dressed in white, lost in the snow. You know there is a grandmother, a mommy and a wolf. You know there is a stone bench in the little snow-covered garden, but you cannot see anything, you cannot see the dog kennel, you cannot see the flower beds, you cannot see anything, anything at all, everything is covered with snow. Never seen so much snow.
Everybody knows who is Little Red Riding Hood, but perhaps nobody knows the story of Little Green Riding Hood, Little Yellow Riding Hood and Little White Riding Hood, sent by their mother to take to their grandmother a basket full of things that are green, yellow and white. The black wolf is waiting for them in the wood, in the traffic jam, in the snow...will it manage to capture them? In these tales the main character is 'colour', in drawings, in text and in characters.
first published as Munari's historical series 'Tantibambini' in 1972
